Amanda has over 30 years experience in the field of performing arts. Starting out in school productions and the Girl Guides, she joined the Bradford Youth Players at 17 and never left!

Amanda has over 30 years experience in the field of performing arts. Starting out in school productions and the Girl Guides, she joined the Bradford Youth Players at 17 and never left!

Still at BYP she is the leader/director of the junior section and produces two shows a year for them. Credits so far are:

She receives regular requests to run workshops in schools and for NODA (National Operatic & Dramatic Association) and has recently been appointed NODA North East Regional Youth Adviser. She also spent two summers while at university, at Camp Wekeela, Maine, USA, teaching young people musical theatre. And in her final year spent three months in Milan, Italy studying the art of ‘Commedia dell ‘Arte’ for her final dissertation. Amanda admits she has a serial interest in the theatre & performing arts stating ‘ My job is my hobby and my hobby is my job. I love what I do and never get bored. I’ve got the best job in the world!’

Sylvie is currently waiting for the results of her GCSE’s having taken music, art, English literature, English language, maths, double science and French! She has also already achieved, her GCSE, AS and A level in German! Sylvie is an accomplished singer having toured Italy, Prague & Hungary.

She even sang at the famous Basilica di San Marco, Venice!

Sylvie’s passion for music does not stop with the piano, she also plays the violin and saxophone. She is currently working towards her Grade 8 piano. She enjoys writing songs and has taken part in workshops with the Leeds College of Music. Sylvie love of music and drama and has lead her to teach beginners piano to young students. And when she’s not studying, playing the piano, sax or violin or teaching, she has a keen skill on the ski slopes too!

Tanya spent 18 years working as a very loyal employee of Barclays Bank but recently decided to cut down her hours and spend more time with her family. She now works part time as an administrative assistant at a local school.

 

Tanya spent 18 years working as a very loyal employee of Barclays Bank but recently decided to cut down her hours and spend more time with her family. She now works part time as an administrative assistant at a local school.

Tanya is a very organised individual who’s talents, as well as a sunny disposition, include book keeping and running a small home business selling children’s party bags and small toys. As well as working for Barclays, she also found the time to be the PTA treasurer for Birkenshaw First, Chairperson for Latham Lane playgroup and treasurer for Birkenshaw toddler group.


 

Rachael Shaw - Musical Theatre & Choreography

Rachael has been treading the boards for over twenty years. She took her first steps at Scala Kids Performing Arts in 1986, the joined Bradford Youth Players in 1995. After seven years of playing leading ladies for BYP, Rachael became one of their choreographers in 2002.

 

Rachael has been treading the boards for over twenty years. She took her first steps at Scala Kids Performing Arts in 1986, the joined Bradford Youth Players in 1995. After seven years of playing leading ladies for BYP, Rachael became one of their choreographers in 2002.

While Rachael loves tap, modern, ballet, contemporary & Irish dancing, she is also an accomplished actress and singer. She has played leading roles in Bugsy, Fame, Moby Dick, Slice of Saturday Night, The Wiz, Joseph……….too many to mention!

Rachael brings many talents to Applause and is so keen that she has already started work on our next major production!
