Amanda Harris DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, DRAMA TEACHER
Amanda has been involved in theatre and drama based activities for over 32 years and thoroughly enjoys all aspects of performing arts. Essentially, she turned her hobby into a job! Children love theatre arts and all the benefits it brings with it; self expression, life skills, reading, writing and listening skills, presentation, public speaking and decision making skills. Not to mention how the power of drama and the spoken word gives enhanced empowering abilities that assist young people in many aspects of their day to day lives and education. And of course, its lots of fun! Amanda sees first hand how, after warm ups or beginning activities, pupils are inspired to be creative and use their imagination. How working with different people within the group brings out many different ideas, builds confidence and finds new friends!
Amanda has had some fantastic roles herself over the years and this is what inspired her start her own theatre school. Some of her favourite roles were- ELIZA- My Fair Lady, ANNIE- Annie Get Your Gun, ALDONZA-Man of La Mancha, AUDREY-Little Shop of Horrors, MRS JOHNSTON-Blood Brothers and SISTER ROBERT ANNE- Nunsense, among many others! She has performed with Bradford Youth Players, Ripon AODS, Guiseley Amateurs, Bradford Catholic Players and Idle & Thackley AODS at St Georges Hall, Guiseley Theatre, Alhambra Theatre, The Priestley, Alhambra Studio, Bradford Library Theatre, Harrogate Theatre, Bradford Playhouse and Idle & Thackley Little Theatre.
As well as performing Amanda has previously directed, produced and delivered over 40 shows for Bradford Youth Players and her own theatre school. Some of her directing credits are; Alice the Musical, Bugsy Malone, Guys & Dolls Jr, Honk!, Midsummer Night’s Dream (Shakespeare4KIDZ) , The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe , Cinderella(Panto),Bits & Bobs , Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat ,Christmas Crackers , The Peace Child, Hoodwinked, Christmas Box ,Annie Jr, Shake, Ripple & Roll, High School Musical, Jesus Christ Superstar, Disco Inferno, Les Miserable –School Edition & Billy Elliot The Musical.
